Welcome To The Music Studio!

Meet The Instructor

Hi! My name is Christine Savidge. I am a music teacher and professional violinist. I began playing violin and piano at age 7 and soon began performing for weddings and other venues such as the Indianapolis Children’s Museum. In high school, I performed in side-by-side concerts with the Indianapolis Symphony. Currently, I am playing in Orchestra Indiana and other local orchestras. I have been teaching violin and piano for 19 years and enjoy teaching a blend of classical music, bluegrass and other genres.

My violin teachers include Jillian Chrisman, Vladimir Krakovich and Anna Vayman. I received my Bachelor’s in Music from Ball State where I focused heavily on education classes as well as violin performance. In my free time, I enjoy gardening and going on kayaking and hiking adventures with my family.

  • weekly lessons
  • 3+ recitals every year
  • flexible scheduling
  • help finding the right instrument

At any given time, students are usually working on 3 things: a skill exercise, a new song, and a “review song”. Skill exercises can be a scale or a new technique that we are working on. The new song might be from the students lesson book or something they have been learning in school orchestra. “Review Songs” are pieces the student already knows, but are playing again to improve and perhaps tryout a new skill they just learned.

  • $32/half hour lesson
  • $48/ 45 minute lesson
  • $64/one hour lesson

Beginners will usually want to start out with half-hour lessons. After a couple years, more advanced students and adults may want longer lessons since they are already comfortable playing their instrument and are able to cover more material in one session.

There are no registration or recital fees.

String Instrument rentals/purchases

If you are looking into purchasing or renting a violin/viola, here are links to 3 of the best string shops! I will be happy to walk you through the options and help you find the best instrument for you.

  • Indianapolis Violins
  • Paige’s Music – Be sure to schedule an appointment with Encore Orchestral Strings before arriving.

Pianos

For pianos, tuning and piano moving, I recommend Piano Solutions. They have reasonable prices and are always great to work with! Or you can always check craigslist for free pianos. Keep in mind they might need some repairs as well as getting tuned.
