A Typical Weekly Lesson
At any given time, students are usually working on 3 things: a skill exercise, a new song, and a “review song”. Skill exercises can be a scale or a new technique that we are working on. The new song might be from the student’s lesson book or the theme song from their favorite movie. “Review Songs” are pieces the student already knows, but are playing again to improve and perhaps tryout that new skill they just learned.

Beginners will usually want to start out with half-hour lessons. After a couple years, more advanced students and adults may want longer lessons since they are already comfortable playing their instrument and are able to cover more material in one session.
There are no registration or recital fees.

FAQ
How much do violin & Viola Lessons cost?
Lessons are $40 for 30-minutes, which is typical for Noblesville and Fishers. Other studios will also charge a registration fee and recital fees. I do not.
What ages do you teach?
I teach all ages, from 5 years old to adult. Its never too late to learn an instrument. If you have a younger child who is interested, I might recommend a Suzuki teacher who specializes in teaching young children.
What books do you use?
For beginner violin and viola students, I published a new curriculum called Exploring Strings. It is a comprehensive curriculum designed to help students learn through hands-on experience. Intermediate and advanced students use a combination of Suzuki, Fiddle, and the standard etude books such as Wohlfahrt and Whistler, and other repertoire. Check out the playlists here!
How often are lessons?
Students have weekly lessons. Beginners start with weekly 30-minute lessons and increase to 45 and 60-minute weekly lessons as their songs (and attention-spans) get longer. I generally like to move to 45-minutes in middle school and an hour for high-schoolers. Adults choose whatever they are comfortable with committing to.
